为推进我校研究生英语教学改革，提高研究生英语教学质量，结合我校研究生英语教学实际情况，学校将继续实施研究生英语课程免修政策，达到免修申请条件的2026级研究生均可申请。请注意，2026级研究生英语免修申请仅在2026年秋季学期规定时间内进行，逾期不再受理。现就相关事宜通知如下：

一、免修规则

研究生英语课程采用免修免考制，免修通过后无需选班、不必参加课程的日常教学及考试，直接登记成绩为“A-”并获得学分。

二、免修条件

1. 全国大学英语六级考试（CET6）总成绩520分及以上

2. 英语专业八级考试（TEM8）总成绩合格及以上

3. 雅思（IELTS）总成绩7.0及以上

4. 托福（TOEFL）120分制总成绩95分及以上，或6分制总成绩5分及以上

5. GRE成绩320分及以上

6. 母语为英语的国际研究生（以护照国籍为审核依据，参考上海交通大学国际研究生项目认可的英语国家列表）

以上成绩不限制有效期。

三、申请及审核

1. 符合以上免修条件的2026级研究生需在报道注册并做好个人培养计划后，于9月14日9:00 - 9月21日17:00在交我办（My SJTU）(http://my.sjtu.edu.cn/)-研究生-研究生英语免修申请（Application for Graduate English Exemption）板块发起免修申请。请务必准备好相关证明材料，所有审核流程将在线上进行，逾期不再受理。另请及时关注审核进度，学校审核通过后方为免修获批。

2. 如不满足免修条件，请根据《上海交通大学2026-2027学年秋季学期研究生选课通知》(https://www.gs.sjtu.edu.cn/post/detail/Z3MzNzAx)及其附件《2026-2027学年秋季学期研究生公共课程安排及选课说明》并参考学院培养方案要求选班修读。

四、补充说明

1. 未满足上述免修条件的国际研究生，若申请英语课程免听或免考，请在2027年春季学期选课后向所在教学班任课教师提出申请，由留学生班任课教师组成审核小组依据学生具体情况进行免听免考资格审核，届时请关注任课教师的通知。

Notice on Applications for Exemption from Graduate English Courses for the 2026 Cohort

To further advance the reform of graduate English teaching and improve its quality, and in light of the actual circumstances of graduate English instruction at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University will continue to implement its policy on exemption from graduate English courses. All graduate students in the 2026 cohort who meet the eligibility requirements may apply.

Please note that applications for exemption from graduate English courses for the 2026 cohort may only be submitted during the designated period in the Fall Semester of 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.

I. Exemption Policy

Graduate English courses adopt a full exemption policy covering both course attendance and examinations. Once an exemption application is approved, students do not need to select a class or participate in regular course instruction or examinations. A grade of “A-” will be recorded directly, and the corresponding credits will be awarded.

II. Eligibility Requirements

Students who meet any one of the following requirements may apply:

1.A total score of 520 or above on the College English Test Band 6 (CET-6);

2.A passing grade or above on the Test for English Majors Band 8 (TEM-8);

3.An overall score of 7.0 or above on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS);

4.A total score of 95 or above on the 120-point Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or a total score of 5 or above on the 6-point TOEFL;

5.A Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of 320 or above;

6.International graduate students whose native language is English. Eligibility will be assessed based on the nationality stated in the student’s passport, with reference to the list of English-speaking countries recognized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s international graduate programs.

There is no validity-period restriction for the above test scores or qualifications.

III. Application and Review Procedures

1.Eligible graduate students in the 2026 cohort must first complete enrollment registration and formulate their Individual Study Plan. They may then submit an exemption application between 9:00 a.m. on September 14 and 5:00 p.m. on September 21 through the following section of My SJTU (http://my.sjtu.edu.cn/): Graduate Students → Application for Graduate English Exemption. Applicants must prepare the relevant supporting documents in advance. The entire review process will be conducted online, and late applications will not be accepted. Applicants should check the status of their applications in a timely manner. An exemption will only be considered granted after approval by the University.

2.Students who do not meet the exemption requirements should select an appropriate class and complete the course in accordance with the requirements of their school’s or department’s program curriculum, with reference to the Notice on Graduate Course Registration for the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (https://www.gs.sjtu.edu.cn/post/detail/Z3MzNzAx) and its attachment, Graduate Common Course Schedule and Course Registration Instructions for the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 Academic Year.

IV. Supplementary Information

1.International graduate students who do not meet the above exemption requirements but wish to apply for exemption from course attendance or examinations must first register for the course in the Spring Semester of 2027 and then submit an application to the instructor of their assigned class. A review panel composed of instructors teaching international-student classes will assess each student’s eligibility for exemption from course attendance or examinations based on the student’s specific circumstances. Students should follow the relevant notices issued by their instructors.
