On the evening of April 18th, Beijing time, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Moscow State University signed a joint doctoral program agreement online. Witnessed by Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, the presidents of both universities, Ding Kuiling and Sadovnichy, signed this milestone agreement in a combined offline and online manner.
The offline venue for the signing ceremony on the Russian side was located in Moscow, the capital of Russia. In addition to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, other Chinese universities that signed the agreement included Peking University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northeast Normal University, Nanchang University, and Shenzhen North Moscow University.
Founded in 1755, Moscow State University is the largest and oldest comprehensive research university in the Russian Federation. Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Moscow State University first signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2017. The Department of Mathematics and Mechanics of Moscow State University and the School of Mathematics and the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of Shanghai Jiao Tong University subsequently signed agreements to establish joint centers of cooperation. In order to jointly cultivate more high-level talents, the two universities have established joint doctoral degree programs in several important fields such as aerospace, mathematics, and biology, providing students with broader academic perspectives and richer learning resources.
The signing of this joint doctoral program agreement marks a new height in the cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Moscow State University, indicating that the two parties will jointly cultivate more high-level talents with a global perspective and innovative spirit in the future, contributing wisdom and strength to the advancement of world scientific and technological progress and social development.
