Prof. Anthony Zee will list and discuss the ten foundational ideas of theoretical physics. The lecture is based on a forthcoming popular book with the same title now in production at Princeton University Press. The book is meant to provide a sweeping overview of theoretical physics rather than a morass of details, and thus this talk may be suitable for those who are interested in theoretical physics but do not know much about it.

徐一鸿教授是最著名的理论物理学家之一、美国国家艺术与科学院院士,籍贯上海,出生于昆明,后移民到巴西。徐一鸿教授在普林斯顿大学取得学士学位,在哈佛大学取得博士学位,现任美国加州大学圣塔芭芭拉分校物理系教授。

Professor Anthony Zee is one of the most renowned theoretical physicists and a member of the US National Academy of Arts and Sciences. Originally from Shanghai, he was born in Kunming and emigrated to Brazil. He received his B.A. from Princeton University and his Ph.D. from Harvard University, and is currently a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Professor Zee's research interests cover a wide range of fields, including high-energy physics, field theory, cosmology, biophysics, condensed matter physics, and mathematical physics. He is particularly known for his contributions to particle physics, field theory and quantum mechanics. In addition to his scientific research, Antony Zee is also dedicated to popularization and education, and has authored several popular books on physics, such as Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell, which have helped many students and enthusiasts to better understand complex physical concepts. In short, Antony Zee's research has not only had a significant impact on the theoretical physics community, but has also had a positive effect on the public's understanding of science through his popularization of science.
